Some people prefer to live life in the moment. Seizing each day as it comes along. Others loose their way somewhere along the road of life, and are stuck floundering in their past. People use their past to escape the present. Some prefer to reminisce about the olden days and mope through each day with a wistful air. But I prefer to live in the future, with my mind a constant labyrinth of “if, then’s” and “what if’s.” ‘If I get a 4.0, then I will get into a good college.’ ‘What if I become super successful and donate all my money to charity.’ We use the future to escape the present. The future is a blank canvas for the imagination, and the possibilities are only limited to what you can create.
In some ways it’s like my own fantasy world. A more sophisticated version of those games of make believe we once played as little kids.
